Earlier this month I went to my first ever blogger event, a holiday party at the Flourish Market and it was so much fun! It was so cool hanging out with other bloggers and of course shopping all the fabulous merchandise at the Flourish Market. The cool thing about events hosted by the Trifabb community is that they always use them as opportunities to give back. They hosted a food drive for the Interfaith Shuttle to help feed the hungry. 10% of all sales made during the party went towards Dressember more at dressember.org plus the boutique itself The Flourish Market does some really cool stuff.
They are an online boutique + brick & mortar store in Raleigh, NC that partners with 40 brands that work all over the world, providing dignified jobs and fair wages to inspiring artisans and makers in vulnerable communities. I think this mission is so cool. I haven’t really talked about ethical brands and sustainability and all that on my blog before but it has started becoming something I care a lot about beginning this year. Ever since I’ve watched the True Cost and learned about the global supply chain in one of my favorite classes senior year, I’ve been renewing my mind to want to live with less and buy more ethically. As someone who still loves trends and fast fashion though, it is hard and I am far from perfect but I think finding purposeful brands to shop with that do good for the world is a good start.
I also fell in love with one of the brands that they carry called Able. Their leather handbags are gorgeous. I wanted one so bad but it wasn’t in my budget at the moment, but one day! Anyway, Able’s mission is to end generational poverty. I totally stand by their point that giving people a job is more beneficial than charity because they feel more empowered and can learn to sustain themselves. Able purposefully supports women because they believe that when a woman thrives so does the economy which she operates in. That’s why through a purchase we are ABLE to empower women and give them a job with dignity.
These are the earrings I got. I love how minimal they are and they support a great cause!
I enjoyed wearing my fun antlers to the party. I also was excited to wear my patent leather pants although I must admit they were a little uncomfortable and hot. I talk about these trendy pants in my fashion guide here!
Hope you enjoyed this post!
