Fall is my favorite season for fashion because you can have so much fun putting together outfits and layering boots and sweaters and jackets oh my! In this fall/winter fashion guide, I’m going to share with you what top fall essentials you should have in your wardrobe to build looks with as well as the hottest trends you can incorporate this season!
Sweaters are so essential for fall because the cozy knit material keeps you all warm and snugly, plus all the textures of different knits really add interest to an outfit. Play with bold colors like red or on-trend details like ruffles or lace-up hems and sleeves. Make sure you have a couple in a versatile color like grey, cream, or black. Check out H&M and Na-kd for some cute options.
Ankle boots are my favorite fall essential because they go with jeans, trousers, and dresses. They make a basic tee look edgy and cool. Black ankle boots are a fall essential and come in diverse styles to suit any style need; studded, Chelsea, block heel, pointed toe, sock boot, so many choices! The pointed toe and sock boot style are very on trend and are a great way to incorporate trends into your everyday look. The pointed toe style is really hot in red and white in leather or vinyl material as well. My favorite place to look for ankle boots is Asos or DSW.
I can’t do a fall fashion guide without talking about leather jackets. I’ve been counting down the days until fall to break these staples out. They’re classic and easy at the same time and paired with ankle boots, take any look up a notch. Go for a classic black one as your essential. Zara makes really nice quality ones. Another way to try out the red trend is in a leather jacket. If you can’t tell I’m REALLY loving red this fall!
You can wear any wash of jeans any season you want, but the colder months are the perfect time to wear your darker bottoms. For edgy causal looks try ripped denim and for work and more tailored looks rock your tees and blazers with some classy tapered black pants. In addition to black jeans, leather leggings and pants will also keep you warm and look super cool!
This season the hottest trend for bottoms, in my opinion, is vinyl or patent leather or PU leather. I’m going to be rocking my red pants from Missguided with my plaid blazer and chunky knits. If vinyl pants are too bold for you, experiment with a vinyl skirt. They have a cute 90s vibe and aren’t as out there as pants.
For fall there are a few accessories I would recommend. Beanies and scarves are some good traditional fall accessories. But this fall, Baker Boy hats are all the rage( does anyone say that anymore?). They’re more stylized than beanies so they add a bit of flair to a cozy outfit. You can get them in velvet, leather, and suede. They are the perfect outfit topper with all these stand-out staples. For bags, I’m loving a classic minimal leather bag. With all these fun clothing trends, sometimes a simple bag is all you need. But you can still add interest to the shape of the bag. Circle and Square shaped bags have been popping up a lot and I love the structured shapes. Hats and bags are definitely easy and fun ways to experiment with trends.
