One of the first steps to doing this is to clean out your closet of things you don’t wear anymore and don’t fit your lifestyle.

Before we get down to the messy part of unloading that closet, you need to make sure you prepare yourself. Do musicians just jump on stage without some vocal exercises? Do athletes start the next match without a few warmups? Do celebrities step out on that red carpet without prepping first? Did the Avengers prepare before jumping out of planes to defeat their foes? Wait, I’m not actually sure, well you get the point! It’s important to make sure you prepared for the battle before you before you just jump into closet decluttering.
Set a time for when you’ll start
It’s important to decide when you’re going to declutter your closet and stick to that plan or you’ll continue to put it off. I’m telling you right now, this is not something you can knock out in 15 minutes. This process can take anywhere between 1 hour and a few days depending on how many clothes, shoes, and accessories you have and how quickly you move! I recommend setting one day aside to get this process done. Choose a Saturday afternoon, when you’re not working and after you’ve had a good nights sleep and the morning to relax.

Create a cleaning playlist
Working out, chores, music makes everything more fun and this is my favorite way to prepare for a massive closet cleanout! Create a list of songs that you can jam to and sing along with! Pop songs are my favorite genre of choice because it certainly gets me up and moving and any 90s throwbacks! If you’re lost on where to start you can find some fun playlists on my Spotify for inspiration! And here are some of my top favorite songs here to get you pumped! This really will make the process a lot more fun and I encourage all dancing and lipsyncing in the mirror! You know you were gonna do it anyway!

Get in the right Mindset
This is one of the most important steps, if not the most important. If you’re in a bad mood, feeling insecure, tired, or distracted you will not be prepared to tackle your closet, especially if you have to try some things on. If you’re not feeling up to it then don’t because you could potentially make a few bad decisions if you’re not in the right head space. Do whatever you need to do to make sure you’re pumped and ready, whether that’s getting yourself pumped with the playlist discussed above or making sure you’ve had a snack- cause it’s time for business!
